Who should apply?
We’re seeking passionate individuals to join our next cohort of Biosecurity Ambassadors. This round will include a diverse group of ambassadors, with a focus on engaging at least 3 regionally-based ambassadors and 3 young ambassadors, ensuring a broad representation of voices and perspectives from across Queensland.
Applicants will be assessed on:
Residency and age
Applicants must be:
- permanent residents of Queensland
- at least 18 years of age at the time of application
- to be considered as a young ambassador, you will be aged between 18 and 25 years.
Knowledge and experience
- Industry leaders and emerging leaders with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of biosecurity principles and practices, including pest, disease, and weed management relevant to Queensland.
- Interest and expertise in biosecurity awareness and preparedness with the ability to advocate and engage communities.
- Proven ability to engage with diverse audiences, including property owners, supply chain organisations, community groups, schools, and local businesses with a good understanding of Queensland’s unique biosecurity challenges.
While not mandatory, the following attributes will be considered:
- experience in public speaking, advocacy, or education
- membership of relevant industry or community organisations.
Applicants from culturally and linguistically diverse and First Nations backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
Availability
- Ability to commit to the program for a minimum of 18 months.
- Availability to attend up to 4 Queensland events as required by the program (this may include occasional travel within Queensland); financial support to travel and attend these events will be provided.
- Availability to attend an official announcement, and induction session.
