The Queensland Biosecurity Boost Grants Program supports projects and activities across diverse sectors to:

  • foster innovation
  • enhance education
  • strengthen preparedness
  • boost Queensland's biosecurity resilience
  • protect our environment, economy, industries, and communities from potential biosecurity threats.

About the grants

Innovation grants

There are 3 grants of $30,000 each in the innovation category.

These grants are for innovative projects that pioneer modern technologies, methodologies or approaches to advance biosecurity practices in Queensland. 

Education grants

There are 8 grants of $15,000 each in the education category. 

These grants are for projects that promote awareness and deliver behaviour change to empower individuals and organisations with the knowledge and skills to effectively support and strengthen Queensland's biosecurity capability.

Who can apply

Community not-for-profit organisations, clubs/associations, schools, councils, universities, statutory bodies/government agencies and incorporated bodies/associations in Queensland are eligible to apply.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted in writing via this portal by the deadline. Biosecurity Queensland may, at its discretion, extend the application period on a case-by-case basis. 

To apply:

  1. Download and read the grants funding criteria
  2. Complete the submission form by clicking 'start your application' at the bottom of this page.
  3. Provide all information requested.
  4. Address all funding criteria and requirements.
  5. Include necessary attachments (i.e. project budget).
  6. Submit your application by the closing date and time.

Note: We recommend registering on this site so you can progressively save your application. Saving as you go means you don't lose all your responses if a technical problem occurs or your browser times out. Once you have submitted your application, you will see an acknowledgement on-screen and recieve an email confirmation. You can access your draft or completed application by clicking on your 'User Dashboard' in the top right-hand corner of the Engagement Hub.

As part of the grant application process, we collect your personal information about Queensland Biosecurity Boost Grants Program applicants to assist in the assessment and management of grants funding. If you do not provide this information, we cannot assess your grant application.

Your personal information will be collected and handled in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 and may be provided to the following persons or organisations to process and manage your application:

  • Industry experts and Queensland Government agencies engaged by the department for the purpose of assessing your application.
  • Persons within the department for the purposes of correspondence, notification, marketing and promotional activities.

In addition to the above, details of successful applications may be provided to Members of Parliament and used in promotional material about the Queensland Biosecurity Boost Grants Program including media releases, annual reports, social media and Queensland Government websites.
