Queensland primary industries 25-year blueprint

Subscribe to stay up-to-date with consultation activities to implement the 25-year blueprint and develop 5-year action plans.

Project overview

The 25-year blueprint, Primary Industries Prosper 2050, has now been finalised and will shape a thriving future for Queensland's primary industries.

Prosper 2050 has been co-designed with industry and other stakeholders as part of a staged consultation, and will be co-invested and co-delivered.

We're now working on the development of 5-year regional and sector specific actionplans. Industry and the community will have the opportunity to share their ideas for local solutions through public consultation on the action plans.

Thank you to everyone who expressed their interest in joining the Regional Industry and Government Working Groups (RIGWG) as part of the implementation of Prosper 2050.

Members have now been appointed to the working groups, and engagement is underway to develop the regional action plans.

The RIGWGs will bring together key primary industry and government representatives from across the region to provide critical advice and input into the development of 5-year regional action plans.

Fisheries and timber action plans are being developed separately, and their deliverables will be captured in the regional plans to reflect shared needs where appropriate.

About the blueprint design

Together with industry and key stakeholders, the Queensland Government is embarking on a transformative journey, focusing on innovation and collaboration to co-deliver a 25-year blueprint for a better future to 2050.

Recognising global, national and local shifts affecting our primary industries makes this transformative change necessary.

To commence this journey, around 250 industry representatives from agriculture, fisheries, forestry, biosecurity, research, investment and government came together on 26 February at the Queensland Primary Industries Forum to discuss ideas.

The forum explored key factors that will influence Queensland’s primary industries, such as shifts in globalisation, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) considerations, climate and labour needs, and the strategic opportunities offered by digital and technology, diversification, advanced manufacturing and international megatrends. You can view a summary of the forum discussions in the Document Library on this page.

The forum was followed by public consultation on the draft blueprint across the state, where we heard from thousands of Queenslanders on their ideas and experiences.

The blueprint will be co-invested and co-delivered with government, industry and stakeholders along the supply chain to reach the Government's goal to increase the value of Queensland’s primary industries to $30 billion by 2030.

The blueprint will be supported by a series of 5-year action plans that will be shaped by local priorities to ensure we can collectively deliver on our vision for primary industries.
